recycler は re-「再び」+ cycle + -er から成り、cycle はギリシャ語 kyklos「円、輪」にさかのぼります。bicycle や cyclic と同じ核をもち、物を一度で終わらせず輪の中へ戻す人だと考えると、役割がはっきり見えます。
Recycler is formed from re- "again," cycle, and the agent suffix -er. Cycle goes back through Latin and French to Greek kyklos, meaning "circle" or "wheel." The idea is of putting materials back into a circular process instead of ending their use after one time, as also seen in bicycle and cyclic.
