まず単数形の repo を核に覚えるとよいです。repository の長い形は知っていても、開発現場では create a repo, clone the repo, push to the repo のように短い repo がよく出ます。repos はその複数形で、「複数の保管場所」という感覚。code そのものではなく、コードや履歴をまとめて置く場所だと意識すると、files や projects と混同しにくくなります。public repo / private repo も一緒に覚えると定着しやすいです。
