spectacularly
見事に
解説 Definition
Spectacularly means in a very impressive, dramatic, or eye-catching way. It is used when something happens with a strong visual or emotional effect. In some contexts, it can also mean to an extreme degree, especially in success or failure.
Memory Tip
a spectacular view, a spectacular victory
Notice the root `spect-`, also seen in `spectator` and `inspect`, which is about seeing. `Spectacularly` is used when something happens in a way that strongly catches people's eyes. A useful memory hook is that you can `fail spectacularly` too, not only succeed.

Etymology
Spectacularly comes from spectacular, which goes back through Latin spectaculum, "a show," from spectare, "to look at." It shares the same root with words like spectator and inspect. The idea moved from something made to be seen to something done in a striking or impressive way.
