transactions の語源・成り立ち Etymology
ラテン語 transactio から。trans-（向こう側へ）+ agere（行う、動かす）の組み合わせ。agent（代理人）やact（行動）と同根。双方が歩み寄って「取り決めを交わす」行為が原義で、商取引やデータ処理の意味に発展した。
Transactions comes from Latin transactio, from trans- "across" and agere "to do" or "drive." The same agere root appears in act and agent. It first suggested carrying something through or settling matters between sides, and later developed into the modern meanings of business deals and computer operations.
