生態学や地球科学で、一定の方向と距離を設定して直線状に植生やその他の特性を調査する方法。帯状調査とも呼ばれる。
A transect is a line or narrow area across a place where scientists collect observations or samples at set points. It is common in ecology, geography, and other field studies. The word can mean both the survey line itself and the method of studying along it.
