tranter の語源・成り立ち Etymology
後期中英語の traventer(trauenter、traunterとも)の異形とされ、中世ラテン語 travetarius にさかのぼる。さらにラテン語 transvehere(運び越す)との関係が提案されているが、確実ではない。
Tranter is an alteration of late Middle English traventer, also recorded in forms such as trauenter and traunter, from Medieval Latin travetarius. A further connection with Latin transvehere, “to carry across,” has been proposed but is uncertain.
