Ungrounded means not based on good reasons, facts, or evidence. It is often used for beliefs, fears, claims, or criticism that do not have solid support. In everyday use, it suggests that something is weak or not convincing.

まず grounded を「ground（土台・地面）にしっかり乗った」と捉えると覚えやすいです。grounded argument は事実や証拠に支えられた主張で、そこに否定の un- が付くと「土台がない→根拠がない」。特に ungrounded claim / fear / allegation の形で見ると定着しやすいです。単に「間違い」ではなく、「裏づけが薄く信用しにくい」という感触。grounded には「地に足のついた」の意味もあるので、その反対として覚えるのも有効です。
