解説
全体を代表していない、または特定のグループの特徴を示していない状態。代表性が低い、または典型的でないことを意味する。
覚え方のコツ
まず representative を固まりで覚えるとよいです。representative sample なら「全体をちゃんと表す標本」。そこに否定の un- が付いた unrepresentative は、「一部の例ではあるが、全体の姿は示していない」という感覚になります。typical に近い「典型的」と結びつけると整理しやすく、unrepresentative sample / result の形で「その結果だけで一般化しない」と読むと記憶に残ります。misrepresent は「誤って伝える」で別語なので混同注意。
