リディア旋法せんぽうの

解説 Definition

古代ギリシャの音階モード。特定の音階パターンまたは音楽様式。

Lydian describes a musical mode, or scale pattern, used in music theory. It is often used when talking about melodies or harmony that have a bright, floating sound. The word is technical and appears mostly in music study or analysis.

覚え方のコツ Memory Tip

音楽モード名の一つとして覚えると定着しやすい。まず「長調寄りで明るいが、普通のメジャーより少し浮遊感がある旋法」と押さえる。代表例はCメジャーの白鍵をFからFまで弾く形。DorianやPhrygianと並ぶ“旋法名グループ”の一員として覚えると、単語単体でも思い出しやすい。特にLydianは4度が上がるのが目印で、この特徴を一緒に結びつけるとIonianやMixolydianとの混同を防げる。

Remember `Lydian` as a music mode name, not an everyday adjective. A useful hook is: it sounds bright like a major scale, but with a slightly floating color. If you study theory, keep one marker in mind: it is like a major scale with a raised 4th.

Lydian の語源・成り立ち Etymology

古代ギリシャ語Lydios「リュディアの」から来ており、地名Lydiaに形容詞語尾-ian/-iosが付いた形。Lydiaと同根で、もともとリュディア地方に結びつく音楽様式を指したため、音楽ではそのまま「リディア旋法の」を意味する。

`Lydian` comes from Greek `Lydios`, meaning "of Lydia," based on the ancient place name `Lydia`. The ending `-ian` is a common way to form adjectives from names of places or peoples. It first meant something connected with that region, and in music it became the name of a mode associated with it.
