actuary（保険数理士）を知っていると覚えやすい形容詞で、「その人がやる仕事に関する」＝保険・年金の数字計算、という流れで取る。insurance, risk, premium, pension, table などと結びつけると定着しやすい。act- が見えても action のような「行動の」ではなく、actual にも引っぱられず、「統計と数式で将来の損失確率を読む専門分野の語」と固定するとぶれにくい。
Be careful not to confuse it with `actual`. `Actuarial` is a technical word often seen with `table`, `model`, `calculation`, or `estimate`, so remember it as a professional numbers-and-risk word. It sounds more practical and predictive than the broader word `mathematical`.

actuarial は actuary「保険数理士」に -al が付いた形で、actuary はラテン語 actuarius「帳簿や記録を扱う人」に由来します。act や actual も同じ ag-/act-「行う」に連なり、出来事を数字で扱う職能らしさが語形に残っています。
Actuarial comes from actuary + -al. Actuary comes from Latin actuarius, a person who kept records or accounts, from the same root family as act and actual, based on agere, "to do" or "to drive." Over time, the word moved from general record-keeping to the specialized work of handling risk and numbers in insurance.
