visualise は visual「視覚の」+ -ise「〜にする」で、visual は後期ラテン語 visualis、さらにラテン語 videre「見る」にさかのぼります。visible や vision と同根で、「見える形にする」から「頭に思い描く」意味へ自然につながった語です。
