biographer は biography＋-er で「伝記を書く人」。biography はギリシャ語 bios「生命」＋ graphein「書く」からでき、フランス語などを経て英語化しました。biology や graphic も同根で、「人の生を書き記す人」と考えると腑に落ちます。
