calorie（カロリー）を知っていると、calori- が「熱・エネルギー量」に関わる感覚でつながります。後半の -meter は thermometer, speedometer などと同じで「測る道具」。つまり calorimeter は「熱を測るメーター系の装置」とまとめて覚えると定着しやすいです。温度計が温度そのものを見るのに対し、こちらは反応や燃焼で出入りした熱量を扱う場面で出やすいので、chemistry lab や measure heat released と一緒に思い出すと混同しにくくなります。
