解説 Definition
commons は、共同体の人々が共有して利用する土地や空間、資源を指す名詞です。村の共有地や学内の共用空間のほか、共同利用される情報やデジタル資料にも使います。

Commons developed from common, which entered English through Old French from Latin communis, “shared, public, or general.” Communis is also the source behind words such as community and communal. From shared land, the term broadened to communal spaces and resources, including modern informational and digital resources.
