区別や差別を行う性質を示す形容詞。統計学や機械学習では「識別的」という意味で使われることもあるが、一般的には不公正な差別を意味する。
Discriminative means able to recognize or show differences between things. It is often used in technical fields such as linguistics, psychology, and machine learning to describe something that separates one category from another. In general English, it can also suggest careful judgment, but that use is less common.

まず discriminate と discrimination を先に頭に置くと覚えやすい語です。語尾 -ive は「…する性質の」という形容詞の合図なので、discriminative は直感的に「区別して見分ける性質の」。そのため、統計・機械学習では discriminative model のように中立的な「識別的」で使われますが、people / policy / treatment などに付くと「差別的」の含みが強まりやすいです。indiscriminate（無差別の）と対比すると意味の輪郭がはっきりします。
