同じ種に属する個体どうしの関係や現象を表す語。生態学では、種内競争、種内変異、種内コミュニケーションのように、同一種の個体間で起こる相互作用、違い、行動、資源の奪い合いなどを説明するときに使われる。
Intraspecific means happening within a single species, not between different species. It is used in biology for things like competition, variation, or breeding among members of the same species. This is a technical scientific adjective.

intra- は intranet などの「内側・内部」の仲間、specific は species と結びつけると覚えるとよい語です。つまり intraspecific は「species の内側で起こること」＝同じ種の個体どうしに関する語。生態学では intraspecific competition, variation, communication の形でよく見ます。対になる interspecific は「種間の」なので、intra=内、inter=間 をセットで押さえると混同しにくくなります。
`Intra-` means “within,” and `specific` connects well with `species`. So `intraspecific` means “within the same species.” Remember it with the contrast `interspecific`, which means “between different species.”

intraspecific の語源・成り立ち Etymology
intra-は「内側」、specificはspecies「種」に由来し、speciesはさらにラテン語specere「見る」へさかのぼる。つまり『見分けられた種類の内側』が原義で、同じ種の内部で起こることを指す。speciesやspecimenも同根。
Intraspecific is formed from intra- "within" and specific, which comes from Latin species, "kind" or "type." Species is linked to a root meaning "to look" or "to see," because kinds were things distinguished by appearance.
