kinesiology は、人体の動きや筋肉・関節の働きを科学的に研究する学問分野で、運動機能の仕組みや効率的な身体の使い方を分析する。スポーツ科学、リハビリテーション、理学療法などと深く関わる基礎分野である。
Kinesiology is the study of how the human body moves. It is used in areas such as sports science, exercise, physical therapy, and health education. The word is mainly used in academic, medical, and professional contexts.

まず語尾の -logy を見て「学問分野」と取る。biology, psychology と同じ型。前半の kinesi- は kinetic（運動の、動力の）を知っていると結びつけやすく、「動きに関する学問」とまとまる。anatomy が体の構造、physiology が体の機能なら、kinesiology は“動き方”に焦点。スポーツ、リハビリ、姿勢分析でよく出るので、筋肉や関節がどう連動して動くかを科学的に見る分野、と使用場面ごと覚えると残りやすい。
