lycanthropy はギリシャ語 lykanthropia 由来で、lyc-「狼」+ anthrop-「人」+ -y「状態」に分けられます。anthropology と同じ anthrop- を持ち、『人が狼になる状態』という形そのものが人狼症の意味を直に示しています。
