長い体と三角形の頭を持ち、発達した前脚で獲物を捕らえる昆虫。前脚を胸の前で折りたたむ姿が特徴。
A mantis is a predatory insect with a long body, a mobile triangular head, and enlarged front legs held ready for catching prey. Many species are commonly called praying mantises because their folded forelegs resemble hands held in prayer.
