短い文章や画像、リンクなどを頻繁に投稿して共有する形式、またはそのサービスを指す語。一般的なブログより投稿が簡潔で即時性が高く、SNSのような拡散やリアルタイムのやり取りが重視される。Xのようなサービスが代表例である。
Microblogging is the activity of posting very short messages, updates, or media on the internet. It is commonly used when talking about social media platforms where people share quick thoughts rather than long articles.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
micro + blogging で分けると覚えやすいです。micro は microscope, microwave などの micro- と同じで「小さい・短い」。blogging は blog を書くこと。つまり microblogging は「長い記事を書く blog を、短い投稿の連続にした形」です。blogging が1本のまとまった記事なら、microblogging は short posts を頻繁に post/share して反応を返し合う場面を思い浮かべると定着します。microblogging service / platform の形でもよく出ます。単なる messaging より、不特定多数へ公開して流れていく感覚が強い語です。
