小説・映画・音声作品などで、出来事を語ったり背景説明をしたりする人を指す。物語の中で話を進める「語り手」を意味することもあれば、映像作品などで場面説明を行うナレーターを指すこともある。
A narrator is the person or voice that tells a story. In books, movies, and documentaries, the narrator explains events or describes what is happening. The narrator may be a character in the story or someone outside it.

narrate（物語る）、narrative（物語）を知っていると、narrator は「物語を語る人」とまとまりで覚えやすいです。-or / -tor は actor, creator のように「〜する人」を表す形なので、語尾も記憶のフックになります。speaker が単に話す人なのに対し、narrator は出来事を順に説明し、聞き手を場面へ案内する役。小説の first-person narrator や、映像で状況を補足するナレーションの声を思い浮かべると定着します。
