Nonnegative means not less than zero. In math and science, it describes a number or value that is either zero or positive.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
non- は「〜でない」、negative はまず日常語の「否定的な」より、数学の「マイナス」を思い出すと定着しやすいです。つまり nonnegative は「マイナスではない」→ 0 を含んでそれ以上。positive が「0より大きい」で 0 を含まないのと対比すると覚えやすく、nonpositive は逆に「プラスではない」なので混同注意。数式や条件文で nonnegative integer, be nonnegative の形をセットで見ると意味が取りやすくなります。
