数学の n は値がまだ決まっていない数、-th は fourth や tenth と同じ序数の印です。したがって nth は「具体的に決めていないn番目」。the nth term（第n項）、for the nth time（何度目か、しばしばうんざりするほど繰り返して）という型で覚えると実用的です。
Connect n with an unknown or unspecified number in mathematics, and connect -th with the ordinal ending in fourth or tenth. Together, nth means the position numbered n rather than one particular position. Remember mathematical phrases such as the nth term of a sequence. In everyday English, for the nth time means “for an unspecified repeated time” and often suggests that something has happened or been said far too many times.
