解説 Definition
八つの面をもつ八面体の形をした、または八面体の配置・構造を示す形容詞。幾何学では正八面体のような立体を指し、結晶学や化学では鉱物の結晶形、結晶格子、中心原子の周囲に六つの配位子が並ぶ金属錯体の配位構造を説明するときによく使われる。
