覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
receiver「受け取る人」が分かれば覚えやすい語。-ship は ownership, leadership のように「立場・状態」を表すので、receivership は「receiver が財産を預かって管理している状態」とつなげると定着します。go into receivership, be placed in receivership の形で会社の経営危機の記事によく出ます。bankruptcy は破産そのもの、receivership はその資産管理の局面を指しやすい、と分けると混同しにくいです。
Use the ending -ship as a clue, like in ownership: it often points to a right, status, or legal position. Receiver is the person handling property by legal authority, so receivership can be remembered as the authority or status connected to that role. Court, creditors, and assets are the kinds of words that usually appear nearby.

receivership の語源・成り立ち Etymology
receivershipはreceiveに接尾辞-shipが付いた語で、receiveはラテン語recipereに由来します。re-「後ろへ」+ capere「取る」から、財産を受け取って管理する立場だと見ると「管財権」が理解しやすくなります。
Receivership was formed in English from receiver plus the suffix -ship. Receiver comes through receive, from Latin recipere, meaning "to take back" or "take in," from re- and capere "to take." The word came to describe the status or office of a person who takes control of property or assets; receive and recipient are related.
