再話。または物語の再述。同じ話を異なる方法で述べる。
Retellings are new versions of stories that tell the same main events in a different way. They are common in literature, film, mythology, and children's books. A retelling may change the style, setting, or point of view while keeping the basic story.

retellings は、まず tell「話す・語る」が見えれば覚えやすい語です。re- が付くので「もう一度語る」、-ing で「語り直すこと」、さらに -s で複数。昔話や神話の modern retellings のように、同じ物語を別視点・別時代設定で語り直した作品群によく使います。単なる summary ではなく、筋や見せ方を変えて再提示する感じ。adaptation に近いものの、「語り直し」という動作に意識がある語だと押さえると残りやすいです。
