revisionsとは、文書・計画・意見などを見直し、修正・改訂したものの複数形です。書かれたものや計画の誤りを訂正したり改善したりする行為や、その結果として生まれた改訂版を指します。学習の文脈では試験に向けた復習・見直しを意味することもあります。
Revisions are changes made to a document, plan, proposal, or opinion after it has been reviewed, usually to correct or improve it. In educational contexts, especially British English, revision can also mean studying previously learned material for an examination.

ラテン語 revisio（再び見ること）が語源で、re-（再び）+ visio（見ること、vidēre＝見るの名詞形）に分解できる。vision（視覚）や visible（見える）と同根。「もう一度見直す」が原義で、文書などの改訂・修正の意味になった。
Revision reached English through French and Medieval Latin revisio, “a seeing again,” from Latin revidere, “to see again.” Revidere combines re-, “again,” with videre, “to see,” also found historically in vision and visible. The literal idea of looking at something again developed into reviewing and altering written work, plans, and judgments. Revisions is the regular plural and can refer either to multiple changes or to successive revised versions.
