主に英国英語で、仕事や当番を誰がいつ担当するかを順番に割り当てた表。米国英語では roster や schedule が一般的です。

ラテン語 rota「車輪」に由来します。車輪のように担当が順番に回ることから、「決まった交替順序」や「当番表」を表すようになりました。
Rota comes from Latin rota, “wheel.” The idea of people or duties taking turns in a recurring rotation produced the senses “fixed order of rotation” and “duty roster.”
