six が頭にあればかなり覚えやすい語です。trio（3人組）→quartet（4人組）→quintet（5人組）→sextet（6人組）と、音楽編成の数え語を横並びで覚えると定着しやすくなります。特に jazz sextet, string sextet のように『6人編成のグループ』や『6つの楽器のための曲』でよく使われます。sex-/sext- は「6」の合図ですが、sextuple のような「6倍」とは違い、sextet はあくまで編成名だと区別すると混同しにくいです。
