硬い床上で円盤状のディスクをキューで押して行うゲーム。スコアボードの区画にディスクを滑らせて得点を競う。
Shuffleboard is a game in which players slide or push discs along a long marked surface to score points. It is commonly played on decks, in clubs, or in bars, and the word refers to both the game and the playing area.

shuffleboard は shuffle「引きずるように動かす」+ board「板」の複合語です。shuffle は中低ドイツ語系、board は古英語 bord に由来し、板の上で駒をこすり滑らせる動きがそのまま競技名になりました。board や boarding が近い仲間です。
