足を引きずって歩く
解説 Definition
足を高く上げず、地面をするようにしてゆっくり歩くことを表す動詞。疲労、けが、老いなどで普通に歩けない様子を描くときによく使われ、元気のない重い足取りや、すり足に近い不安定な歩き方を表すこともある。
To shuffle means to walk slowly with short steps, often without lifting your feet much. It can suggest tiredness, weakness, or a lack of energy. In other contexts, it can also mean to mix things into a different order, such as cards.

shuffle は中英語 shovelen や低地ドイツ語 schuffeln に近いゲルマン系語から来たとされ、元は「足を引きずる」「少しずつ押す」感覚でした。shuff- は shove と同族、-le は反復を示し、「こすって押し動かす」感じがカードを混ぜる意味につながります。
Shuffle is probably from a Germanic source, related to Middle English shovelen and Low German schuffeln. It first suggested dragging the feet or pushing something little by little, and it is connected to shove. That sense of repeated small movements later led to the meaning of mixing cards.
