since は『その時点から今まで』を結ぶ語、then は『その時』。合わせて『その時以来』だが、感覚としては“ある出来事を起点に、今へ線が伸びる”表現。だから much has changed since then, I’ve lived here since then のように、現在完了と結びつきやすい。from then on は“その後はずっと”と流れを見る言い方で、since then は“起点から今まで”を意識しやすい。until then（その時までは）と逆向きなので対で覚えると混ざりにくい。
