最上級

文法で、形容詞や副詞が比較対象の中で最も高い程度を示すときの最上級を指す名詞。通常は -est を付けたり、most を前に置いたりして作り、best や most beautiful のように、複数のものの中で一番であることを表す形をいう。
In grammar, a superlative is the form of an adjective or adverb that shows the highest degree in a group, such as best or biggest. It is used when comparing three or more people or things. The word can also mean very high praise, but the grammar meaning is more common in language study.
