Unsaved usually means not stored, especially in computing when a file or document has not been saved yet. In religious contexts, it can also mean not spiritually saved. The computer-related meaning is more common in everyday use.

unsaved は un-「〜されていない」+ save「救う・保存する」+ -ed。save は後期ラテン語 salvare、さらに salvus「無事な」につながり、safe や salvation も同根です。つまり「安全な状態にしていない」から、未保存にも未救済にも広がります。
Unsaved is made from un- "not" and saved. Save comes from Late Latin salvare, from salvus, meaning safe or unharmed. The basic idea was making something safe, and in English it later spread from rescue to preservation. Related words include safe and salvation.
