unrecorded は un-「〜でない」+ record + -ed から成ります。record は古フランス語 recorder、さらにラテン語 recordari「心に呼び戻す」にさかのぼり、re-「再び」+ cor「心」が核です。つまり「記録に心へ留められていない」から未記録。関連語は record, recorder。
Unrecorded is built from the negative prefix un-, record, and -ed. Record came into English through Old French recorder, from Latin recordari, which originally meant "to call back to mind" and was based on re- "back, again" and cor "heart." The sense developed from something not put into memory or writing to something not entered in any record.
