unreportedはun- + reported。reportはフランス語経由でラテン語reportare「運び返す」が語源で、re-「返して」+ portare「運ぶ」。だから「情報が返ってこない」感覚から「報告されていない」と分かる。関連語はtransport。
This word combines un- and reported. Report came through French from Latin reportare, from re- "back" and portare "carry," so it originally had the sense of "carry back" information. Unreported therefore means something that has not been brought back, told, or officially communicated; compare transport.
