覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
Arab が「アラブ人・アラブ世界」を指す土台で、arabic はそこから「アラブの言語・文字・文化に関する」と広がる語だと捉えると覚えやすいです。まず speak Arabic, Arabic script, Arabic music の形で固めると実用的。似た語では Arab は人、Arabic は言語や文字、Arabian は Arabian Peninsula のように地理・物に寄りやすいので、この使い分けをセットで覚えると混同しにくくなります。
Keep three related words together: Arab, Arabic, and Arabian. Arab is usually for people, Arabic is for the language, script, or culture, and Arabian is often used for places or things, like the Arabian Peninsula. Think of easy collocations such as speak Arabic or Arabic script.

Arabic の語源・成り立ち Etymology
Arabicはラテン語Arabicus(アラビアの)から。語根はセム語系のʿarab(砂漠の遊牧民)に由来し、広大な砂漠に住む人々を指した。関連語:arabesque(アラベスク模様)。アラビア半島の民族名がそのまま言語名になった。
"Arabic" comes from Latin "Arabicus," meaning "Arabian" or "of Arabia." The deeper root is a Semitic word "arab," which referred to desert people or nomads. From the name of the people and region, the word later became the name of the language as well. A related English word is "arabesque."
