解説 Definition
Kurdish は、クルド人・クルド語・クルド文化に関係することを表す形容詞で、中東各地に暮らすクルド民族にまつわる人々、言語、社会、伝統などを説明するときに使う。名詞として使う場合は通常「クルド語」を指す。

Kurdish is formed from Kurd, the name of the Kurdish people, plus the English suffix -ish, which means "belonging to" or "connected with." Kurd comes from older Persian and Arabic forms of the ethnic name. The word naturally came to describe both the people and their language, as in Kurdistan, "land of the Kurds."
