解説 Definition
適応とは、生物や組織が新しい環境や条件に対応する過程です。進化生物学では、生物が自然選択を通じて環境に適応した形質を発達させることを指します。また、一般的には何かを別の用途に調整することも意味します。
Adaption means the process of changing to fit new conditions or a new environment. It can also mean a changed version of something, such as a story made into a film or play, though adaptation is more common for this meaning. Adaption is used less often than adaptation in standard English.
