ある行動や選択が状況に照らして賢明で、そうしたほうがよいと判断されることを表す形容詞。命令のように強く促すのではなく、危険を避けたり結果をよくしたりするための穏やかな助言として、計画や安全の話題でよく使われる。
If something is advisable, it is a good idea to do it because it is sensible or likely to help. The word is often used in advice, warnings, and formal suggestions. It sounds a little more formal than simply saying "good" or "wise."

advise を知っていれば覚えやすく、advisable は「advise したくなるような」→「そうするのが賢明」という流れで取れる。-able は「〜できる／〜するのに向く」の形で、readable, washable と同じ発想。定番は It is advisable to ... で、安全確認・契約・旅行準備など、問題を避けるための落ち着いた助言に多い。necessary や mandatory ほど強制ではなく、recommended や wise に近い。advised（忠告された）との形の違いにも注意。

advisable は advise + -able で、「助言できる→勧められる」という形です。advise は古フランス語を経てラテン語 videre（見る）系に連なり、vision や visible と同根なので、「よく見て判断した上で勧める」感覚が残っています。
Advisable is formed from advise and the suffix -able, meaning "able to be" or "fit to be." Advise came through Old French and ultimately goes back to Latin videre, "to see," the same root found in vision and visible. The idea moved from "considering carefully" or "seeing clearly" to "something it is wise to recommend."
