統合失調症などの精神疾患の症状を抑えるために使われる薬の総称。
Antipsychotics are medicines used to treat serious mental health conditions, especially those involving psychosis, such as hallucinations or delusions. anti- は antiwar のように「反対・抑える」、psych は psychology / psychiatrist に出る「心・精神」まわりの形。なので antipsychotics は「精神症状を抑える薬」とまとまりで覚えると残りやすいです。単数形 antipsychotic も頻出。antidepressants（抗うつ薬）や sedatives（鎮静薬）とは別で、幻覚・妄想などを抑える場面で出やすい語、と使い分けまでセットで覚えると混同しにくくなります。
