誰でも
解説 Definition
人を限定せず、「誰でも」「どんな人でも」という自由選択を表す代名詞です。能力・許可・可能性などが特定の人だけでなく、すべての人に当てはまることを示します。
Anybody means any person, with no specific person in mind. It is common in questions and negative statements, and it can also mean people in general.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
anybody は any「どの~でも」と body「人」が結び付いた代名詞で、人を限定しない「誰でも」を表します。Anybody can join. なら、参加できる人に条件がなく、どんな人でもよいという意味です。can や be allowed to と共に、能力や許可が全員に開かれている場面を思い浮かべましょう。
See it as `any + body`. Here, `body` means a person, not a physical body, so it fits with `somebody`, `nobody`, and `everybody`. It often appears in questions and negative sentences, like `Did anybody call?` or `I didn't see anybody.` That pattern helps fix it in memory.
例文
Anybody in our class can join the game.
クラスの誰でもそのゲームに参加できます。
This easy game is fun for anybody.
この簡単なゲームは誰でも楽しめます。
This food is safe for anybody to eat.
この食べ物は誰でも安心して食べられます。

(意味 2)
解説 Definition
特定の人物を決めずに、「だれか」という意味で不特定の一人を指す代名詞です。疑問文やifを使う条件文、依頼や申し出の表現で、該当する人がいるかを広くたずねるときによく使います。肯定文ではsomeoneに近い語感になることがあります。
An unspecified person, especially when asking whether a person is present or has done something. This pronoun is common in questions and conditions with if, where no particular person is identified.
覚え方のコツ Memory Tip
any + body と見ると覚えやすいです。body はここでは「体」ではなく「人ひとり」の感覚で、somebody / anybody / nobody / everybody を並べて覚えると定着します。意味は anyone とほぼ同じですが、会話では anybody のほうがややくだけた響き。疑問文・否定文で特によく出るので、Did anybody call? / I didn't see anybody. の形で「だれか」「だれも〜ない」をセットで覚えると使いやすいです。
Break anybody into any and body, with body representing a person. Use "Did anybody call?" as a memory phrase for asking whether an unspecified person called. Picture checking for a person without having a particular name in mind.
例文
Did anybody call while I was out?
私が外出している間に、だれか電話してきましたか。
Did anybody ask for me?
だれか私を訪ねてきましたか。
Is anybody home?
家にだれかいますか。

anybody の語源・成り立ち Etymology
anybody は any + body の語で、any は古英語 ænig「どれでも」、body は古英語 bodig「身体」に由来します。body が「人ひとり」を表すようになったため、文字どおり「どんな人でも」から「誰でも」の意味になります。関連語は anyone、everybody。
Anybody is made from any and body. Any comes from Old English aenig, meaning "any one at all," and body came from Old English bodig, meaning the physical body. Because body later came to mean "a person," anybody developed the sense of "any person whatever." Related forms include anyone and everybody.
