armagnac の語源・成り立ち Etymology
armagnac はフランス語 Armagnac から来た酒名で、南西フランスのアルマニャック地方名に由来します。地名はガロ・ローマ系人名に土地接尾辞 -acum が付いた形とされ、Cognac や Bergerac と同じく「その土地のもの」が酒名になった例です。
Armagnac comes from French Armagnac, the name of a region in southwestern France. The place name is thought to come from a personal name with the Gallo-Roman land suffix -acum. Like Cognac and Bergerac, the name of the place later became the name of the product from that place.
