follow を「後に続く」と知っていれば、as follows は「このあと続く内容は次のとおり」という導入句だと覚えやすいです。メールや報告書では `The reasons are as follows:` のようにコロンの前に置かれ、その後ろに箇条書きや説明が来る形で定着しています。固定表現なので as follow にはならず as follows。as below は見た目上の『下記』、as follows は話や文の流れとして『以下に続く内容』を示す少し硬めの表現、と分けると残りやすいです。
If something `follows`, it comes next. So `as follows` is a set phrase meaning what comes next is the important list or explanation. Remember it often appears before a colon, and keep the final `s`: it is `as follows`, not `as follow`.

followは古英語folgianで「後について行く」が語源（ゲルマン祖語*fulgijanから）。関連語: following（次の）、follower。「次に続くとおりに」という意味で、後に述べる内容を導く定型表現として定着した。
