calisthenics
Definition
Calisthenics is exercise done with your own body weight, such as jumping, bending, or stretching. It is often used in fitness training, warm-ups, and physical education because it improves strength, balance, and flexibility without special equipment.
Memory Tip
Notice the ending `-ics`, like in `gymnastics` and `athletics`. That ending often appears in names of physical exercise, so think of a group of basic body movements. It is often used for simple no-equipment exercises like push-ups, sit-ups, and squats.

Etymology
Calisthenics comes from Greek kallos meaning "beauty" and sthenos meaning "strength," with -ics added for a field or practice. The word was formed to suggest exercises that build both grace and physical power. Its history reflects an older ideal that the body should be not only strong but also beautiful in movement.
