categorization は category + -ization。category はギリシャ語 kategoria に由来し、kata-「対して」+ agoreuein「話す」が核です。もとは「どう言うか」なので、物事を言葉で分ける「分類」になりました。categorical も同根です。
Categorization is built from category and the suffix -ization.
