category を知っていれば、subcategory は「その下にある category」と見ればかなり取りやすい。sub- は subway、subtitle、subsection などでも共通して出る「下・下位・補助」の感覚。つまり大分類そのものではなく、その内側にぶら下がる一段細かい分類名。ECサイトの商品一覧、ブログのタグ整理、アプリの設定画面などで、category の下に subcategory が並ぶ場面を思い浮かべると定着しやすい。item や product ではなく、あくまで“分類ラベル”である点にも注意。
