conqueror は conquer に行為者語尾 -or が付いた語。conquer は古フランス語を経て俗ラテン語 conquaerere にさかのぼり、con-「完全に」+ quaerere「求める」が元です。「求めて勝ち取る」感覚から「征服者」となり、question も同根です。
