解説 Definition
液体または溶液が固い結晶構造に変わるプロセスです。化学的には、分子が規則正しく配列して固体の幾何学的な形を形成することを意味します。
Crystallization is the process by which crystals form. In science, it often refers to a substance becoming solid in a crystal shape. The word can also be used more generally for an idea or plan becoming clear and definite.

crystallizationはギリシャ語krystallos「氷・水晶」に、-ize「…化する」、-ation「作用」が重なった語です。古代には水晶が凍った氷と考えられたため、「結晶化」は物質が氷のように整った形を取る感覚です。crystalやcrystallineも同じ根です。
Crystallization is built from crystal, plus the endings -ize and -ation. Crystal goes back to Greek krystallos, which meant both "ice" and "rock crystal," because ancient people thought clear quartz was deeply frozen ice. From that idea, the word came to suggest matter taking on a clear, ordered form. Related English words include crystal and crystalline.
