解説 Definition
サイバー攻撃や不正アクセスから、コンピューターやネットワーク、データを守ることを意味します。日本語の「サイバーセキュリティ」とほぼ同じですが、英語では技術対策だけでなく、組織のルールや教育も含めて使われます。
Cybersecurity is the practice of protecting computers, networks, systems, and digital information from unauthorized access, attack, damage, or disruption. It includes technical safeguards as well as organizational policies, risk management, and user education.

cybersecurity の語源・成り立ち Etymology
cyber- はギリシャ語 kybernetes「舵取り・統治者」に由来し、security はラテン語 securus「気がかりのない」（se-「離れて」+ cura「心配」）から来ています。語源どおり「情報空間をうまく制御し、不安のない状態を守ること」で、govern や secure が関連語です。
Cybersecurity combines cyber- with security. Cyber- developed from cybernetics, a term built on Greek kybernētēs, “steersman” or “governor,” and later became associated with computers and digital networks. Security came through Latin securitas from securus, “free from care,” traditionally analyzed as se-, “apart from,” and cura, “care or concern.” The modern compound therefore names the protection and management of digital systems, although its present technical and organizational meaning developed much later than either element.
